How does DISCO handle duplicate files?

DISCO has a number of quick ways to deal with duplicate audio files.

Uploading duplicate files

When you upload an mp3 or m4a audio file to Playlist Creator on the right of the app, DISCO will check to see if any existing files have the exact same artist, album, and title metadata as the file you're trying to upload. If there is a file with the same metadata in those fields, the duplicate won't be uploaded, and the existing file will be served up instead:

Note that this de-duplication only happens on upload, and not when you're importing files from an inbox.  Only mp3 and m4a files will be deduplicated. Deduplication will not apply to other file formats such as AIF or WAV.

If you prefer to have the de-duplication feature switched off, please contact support via the chat bubble or email us at support@disco.ac.

Cleaning up duplicate files

Some duplicate files will likely still find their way into your DISCO. The best way to clean them up is using DISCO's merge feature. Merge lets you remove duplicate tracks while keeping the tracks' place and history in your lists. Read more how to merge.
